Their initial time together went well, and she returned to New York in December to celebrate her 30th birthday with him.

During that December visit, she discovered she was pregnant. She informed him of her suspicion, and together they took a pregnancy test, which came back positive. She was scheduled to fly home the following day, but before she left, he requested that she get a blood test to confirm the pregnancy. She complied and sent him the results. Shortly after receiving the confirmation, he blocked her and ceased all communication, despite her repeated attempts to reach out.

She waited for weeks—then months—hoping he would eventually come around, but he never did. Feeling lost and isolated, she reached out to his family to inform them of the pregnancy, yet received no response. Left to face the pregnancy alone, she had no support from him or his family.

He continued to deny paternity, even when she offered to confirm it through an in utero paternity test, which required only a blood sample from each parent. He refused to comply.

Eventually, she sought legal advice and filed an application from Australia with the New York City Family Court to have him legally recognized as the father. The process proved incredibly difficult—especially from the other side of the world—but after many challenges, she found a lawyer willing to take on the case.

On August 9, 2024, she gave birth to their daughter in Australia without any support and having been abandoned by him.

Concerned for their safety, she consulted with her doctor back in Australia, and together they developed a plan to report the abuse.
